Ok, so I was in art class and we had this project to make and it was called a Batik, its a tradtion that Mexicans make for the Day of the Dead holiday. I need to know what nice of fabric to receive that would be good and CHEAP to buy at like a JoAnne Fabrics or another craft store. Also a water base paint, that wont soak through, and wont stain clothes. After your done with the painting process, your suppose to let it dry and then soak it in warm water, thats why I need water base paint. So again I need to know....
1. Cheap fabric for Batik( preferably a stiffer fabric)
2. Brand of water base paint.

Trying to find just the right pattern for custom curtains for our oddly-shaped corner windows (one is 60x46 and the other is 30x46, so want to do it myself and use a striped pattern every the way round, to keep a vertical visual line and tie one side into the other.)
Anyway, I can't find anythign to work with our colors (everything now is very muted, and we have a wealthy deep yellow green on the walls with a soothing, floating beige carpet.)
Anyway,
I'd like to try to make subtle stripes myself, in the colors I want, and the muslin is that I have is actually the base color I want?
What fabrics can I use, and if muslin wouldn't do it, can I at least experiment on it?

1969 fashion
The year of 1969 featured a number of diverse trends. It was a year that broke with many fashion traditions that mirrored social movements.
The androgynous hippie look was in style a. Both sexes wore bell-bottomed jeans, tie-dyed shirts, work shirts, and headbands. Bare feet or leather sandals were typical hippie fashion and flowers and peace signs became symbols of the movement.
Fringed buck-skin vests, flowing caftans, Mexican peasant blouses, gypsy-style skirts, scarves, and bangles were also worn by teenage girls and young women. Indian prints, batik and paisley were the fabrics preferred. For more conservative women, there were the "lounging" or "hostess" pyjamas. These consisted of a tunic top over floor-length culottes, and were usually made of polyester or chiffon. Long maxi coats were also fashionable.
Another popular look for women and girls was the mini-skirt worn with a French polo-neck top, square-toed boots, and beret. Animal prints were also popular in the autumn and winter of 1969.
thanks you soooooooooooooooooooooo much

since i am unemployed and needed income to pay my bills, i accepted the position. 1 week later, this person sent me a cashier's check worth of $4000.00 and gave me instructions how to handle it. went to my bank cashed the check, i kept 10% of it which is 400 dollars as his payment to me then i wired the relax of the money to the person he asked me to send the money to. But after the transaction has been done, i just learned today that this might be scam and the cashier's check i cashed might be a falsed check. I haven't received a call from the bank yet if the check bounced or anything, but now i am scared because they might put me to collection agencies once the bank finds out the check to be fraudulent.
I also enclosed the email i received from this man claiming to be a CEO of a textile company in UK.

Does anyone has batik collection in various forms? I know most of them arrive up on fabrics, it can be a dress, shirts, and pillow cover. Even some folks created them into wall hanging arts for interior decoration.
But my real question is what is so good about it? They can be either arts or crafts, or even both.
I know for some patterns they are fairly expensive because it is painted by hand.
But people loving it, well not every but some do, and make it their collection.
I think we can always print the same sort of patterns, or even better quality products with computer generated design and produce the fabric with textile printing machine.... I guess....
But anyway please explain why it is so special?
Look forward for some feed-backs
Thanks & best of regards to you all

I bought some hemp dyed with indigo made by the H'mong people of northern Vietnam. I want to be able to wear it and wash it without the colour bleeding onto the white embroidered sections of the garment, and without the whole thing fading too much. Can I use a chemical fixative? Which one should I use? Should this fabric be dry cleaned?

I bought a shirt a while ago, and turns out the colour of it doesn't look so good on me. I'm wanting to dye it, a mid to dark colour (as yet undetermined), but I'd like to preserve the trim around the collar, neckline & pockets. I know there are resists out there, but I'm unsure of what products would be suitable for this purpose & fabric, as a lot of the ones I've looked up are very specific, usually for batik.
I'm also wondering if there any any particular ways in which I might apply the product to ensure no issues occur, or if there is a certain way I need to dye the shirt so the resist technique works. I was planning on just using machine dye, but I thought maybe that some resist products might loosen with the activity of the machine?
Here's the shirt to give you an idea of what I'm working with. The colour I ordered isn't shown, but it'd be similar to the acid green one shown, not the black:

The fabric is Elastic, Chinlon & Spandex mix, not sure on percentages.
Thanks for any advice!

I've seen it described as tye-dyed or as diamond-patterned. To me it looks like it might be batik or ikat. Colors look like green, maybe gold or white or blue. I looked at Mood Fabric's website but no luck.
